The Ash Tree is native throughout the British Isles and can grow to a maximum size of 130ft 40m. The Ash Tree is usually the last trees to come into leaf in spring and one of the earliest to lose its leaves in the autumn. The Ash flourishes on a lime rich soil. Wood from the Ash tree is extremely strong lending itself to a variety of purposes especially handles for tools. When dried Ash wood burns with a clear blue flame making it a sought after commodity for winter fuel.
